Australia: Sikh Man Refused License Over Turban Conflict

WEST – Mandeep Sing, an Indian Sikh, has taken his case to the Equal Opportunity Commission in Australia after being denied the chance to get his motorcycle license, as his religious beliefs dictate that he cannot remove his turban or place a helmet over it, West Australian reported on June 22.  A spokeswoman for the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, where Mandeep Sing attempted to get his license, has announced that the department will be seeking advice on current laws for people seeking exemptions for wearing a helmet.
