Malaysia: Court Rules that Sikh Man Converted Before Death

KUALA LUMPUR – The High Court in Malaysia has ruled that a Sikh film director, Mohan Sing, converted to Islam before his death and so may not recieve a burial in line with Sikh traditions, AsiaOne reported on July 6.  The presiding high court judge Rosnaini Saub has refused to grant a stay on the ruling, which means that Sing’s body may not be held at a hospital morgue, and will instead receive a Muslim burial making an appeal on the ruling much more difficult for his family.
