Iraq: Kidnapped Priest Released

AsiaNews reports that Fr. Saad Hanna Sirop, kidnapped August 15th, was returned unharmed to relatives in Baghdad on September 11th.  Fr. Saad was the second Chaldean priest to be kidnapped during the month of August; the first, Fr. Raad Washan, managed to escape after three days in captivity.  Christians, who make up 3% of Iraq’s population, are thought to be popular targets for kidnapping, as the families tend to be willing to pay higher amounts for ransom and less likely to take revenge.
