Afghanistan: Gabriele Torsello’s Kidnappers No Longer Ask for Abdul Rahman

ANSA reports that the kidnappers of Italian journalist Gabriele Torsello have asked the Italian government to withdraw its peacekeeping troops from Afghanistan in exchange for his safe return, backing away from their initial demand that Italy repatriate Abdul Rahman.  Rahman, a Christian convert, was given political asylum in Italy earlier this year after facing the death penalty in Afghanistan for apostasy. Torsello, who is a convert to Islam, has been missing since he was snatched off a bus from Laskar Gah to Kandahar on October 12.
