Germany: ECHR Upholds Ban on Nation’s Homeschooling

LifeSite News reports that the European Court of Human Rights upheld Germany’s ban on homeschooling in the case of an Evangelical Christian couple who wished to homeschool their children for religious reasons.  The ECHR endorsed a decision of the German courts which stated Germany’s interest in subordinating value systems that compete with the state’s secular values. Nearly 40 German families are currently involved in legal battles for the right to homeschool their children, an offense punishable in Germany with fines, jail time, and occasionally state seizure of the children in question.
