Georgia: Religious Minorities Hindered by Construction Bans

Forum 18 reports that religious minorities in Georgia, including Baptist, Pentecostal, Armenian and True Orthodox congregations, face obstruction and bans when they attempt to construct new places of worship.  Though Georgia’s period of violent attacks against religious minorities and property confiscations effectively with the regime change three years ago, congregations wishing to construct religious buildings are generally unable to do so and often end up worshipping in private homes.  This ban is especially difficult for religious minorities who had their property confiscated by other religious groups under the old regime.
