Eritrea: 150 New Arrests of Christians

International Christian Concern reports that on October 25, Eritrean authorities went house to house in the town of Mendefera, looking for local Christians whose names they had compiled from lists of known members of Pentecostal and Orthodox Renewal churches.   The raids ended October 26, with a total of 150 Christians arrested.  The latest numbers indicate that up to 2,078 Eritreans, mostly Christians and Muslims, have been jailed for their faith.   Eritrea bans all religions that fall outside the definition of Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran or Muslim, and those found worshipping outside of these four faiths face arrest, torture, and pressure to recant their beliefs if they are caught by authorities.
