Nagorno-Karabakh: Draft Constitution a Concern to Minority Religious Groups

Forum 18 reports that Jehovah’s Witnesses have voiced concerns over proposed Nagorno-Karabakh constitution, as it does not contain any provisions for conscientious objection to military service, and recognizes the Armenian Apostolic Church as the “national church”. Though the constitution, the first in Nagorno-Karabakh, would likely be no more than a decorative document if approved, it is still a concern as two Jehovah’s Witnesses and one Baptist have been jailed recently for refusing to serve in the military.
