China: Woman Arrested for ‘Illegal Evangelism’ in Xinjiang

China Aid reports that Tian Maishi, a retired English teacher, was arrested on October 18 on charges of “illegal evangelism” and “engaging in superstitious fraudulent activities” for engaging in missionary work in Uramqi, the capital of the area.  Tian was taken from her home and remained missing for three weeks until her husband located her in a detention center.  Her case is the third known example of religious persecution in the area in the last two months.
