Somalia: Union of Islamic Courts Arrests 100 Moviegoers

Shabelle Media Network reports that the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) recently arrested 100 people, including women and children, for watching a film at a theater in Merca, south of the capital of Mogadishu (map).  Some of the youth who attended were incarcerated and had their heads shaved by Islamists following the incident.   Most cinemas in areas controlled by the UIC have been closed, but Merca, in the Lower Shabelle Province, was the last area to be affected by forced closings.
