India: Police Fail to Take Action Against Inter-religious Violence

Compass Direct reports that despite several instances of religiously motivated violence in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, police continue to ignore the situation.  In June, two Christian families in the village of Dublia were beaten by Hindu residents and expelled from the village, amid accusations that one of the families had forcibly converted the other to Christianity.  Both victims filed a complaint with the police, but no action was taken.
