Cuba: Trial Date Set for Imprisoned Pastor

Christian Solidarity Worldwide reports that Protestant pastor Carlos Lamelas, imprisoned earlier this year for four months, will stand trial December 4 on charges of “human trafficking”, despite a lack of evidence.  It is widely believed that Lamelas, a member of the Church of God denomination, aroused the ire of Cuban authorities by speaking in favor of increased freedom of religion in the country.  The case is unusual as Lamelas’ church is a member of the Cuban Council of Churches, which has traditionally enjoyed a close relationship with the Cuban government.
