Morocco: Newspaper Banned for “Damaging Islam”

Reporters Without Borders reports that the Arabic weekly Nichane has been banned in Morocco for running a piece entitled “Jokes: How Moroccans laugh at religion, sex and politics” which the government deemed “damaging” to Islam. The king’s prosecutor has decided to take legal action against the paper’s editor, Driss Ksikes, and journalist Sanaa Al Aji, for “publication and distribution of articles contrary to morality”.
