India: Christians Protest Policy on Visa for Foreign Religious Workers

Zenit reports that 10,000 Christians took to the streets to protest government restrictions on visas for foreign religious workers, which restrict non-Indian Christians and, to a lesser extent, Buddhists, from entering the country. Those who enter on tourist visas are reportedly discouraged from taking part in religious ceremonies, according to the national secretary of the All India Christian Council, and police in certain areas find the presence of foreigners at religious meetings to be sufficient reason to close down gatherings.
