Uganda: Government to Regulate Religious Institutions

The Monitor reports that the government of Uganda plans to set up an autonomous agency to regulate religious institutions in the country, with the aim of preventing and eliminating cults. Religious institutions have been asked to contribute to the draft policy currently set down by the government, which should be completed by March. The government believes problems within the country’s religious institutions can be attributed to the absence of a regulatory body.
