Uzbekistan: Pentecostal Pastor to Face Trial

Forum 18 reports that Dmitry Shestakov, pastor of the Pentecostal Full Gospel Church, faces trial with the possibility of twenty years in prison if convicted. Pastor Shestakov is charged with leading an “illegal” religious organization, distributing extremist recordings, and inciting interreligious hatred. However, Shestakov’s church is registered in compliance with the law, and sources close to the case say that the pastor’s words have been taken out of context to use as evidence.
