Mexico: Evangelicals Protest Treatment by Authorities

Compass Direct reports that Evangelical Christians in the Mexican state of Chiapas are experiencing increased persecution, in the form of physical violence and threats from their communities, as well as discrimination and intimidation from local authorities. Evangelical families have reported local government interference in their supply of water and in arbitrary restrictions applied only to Evangelical communities, as well as instances in which they were forced to make monetary contributions to “traditional Catholic” events or risk expulsion from the area or death.
