Kazakhstan: Ponders New, More Restrictive Religion Law

Forum 18 reports that a new draft of Kazakhstan’s Religion Law will restrict religious activity more severely than even the current law does. According to a recent copy seen by Forum 18, the new law would ban all unregistered religious activity and impose certain restrictions on communities with fewer than 50 adult citizen members. Communities without sufficient membership would not be allowed to publish or import religious literature, have open places of worship, or engage in charitable work.
