UK: British Girl Banned from Wearing Niqab to School

The Guardian reports that a 12-year-old Buckinghamshire schoolgirl has lost her fight to be allowed to attend school wearing the niqab, or full-face veil. The presiding judge ruled that the ban on the niqab was appropriate, as it would ensure easy identification, promote communication between teacher and student, and would prevent both feelings of inequality among pupils of other religions and peer pressure on other Muslim girls to wear the veil.
