Canada: Niqab Barred from Polling Places in Quebec

The Associated Press reports that Quebec’s election chief, Marcel Blanchet, has ruled that women who wear the niqab will have to remove it in order to vote, overriding an earlier decision he had made allowing the niqab at polling places. Muslim groups condemned the decision, saying it would prevent many women from taking part in elections.
