Kenya: Government Wants Increased State Control of Churches

East African Standard reports that Kenya’s government is considering a bill which would allow the state to regulate church affairs in the country, saying that this step has become necessary since some churches became commercialized. Critics of the move say the government is overstepping its bounds in suggesting such a measure and that churches should be allowed to deal with any problems through internal measures.
