Uzbekistan: Protestant Facing Trial for “Teaching Religion Illegally”

Forum 18 reports that one of the Protestants arrested on January 15 during a raid in Nukus, Uzbekistan, is set to face trial on April 24. The accused is Salauat Serikbayev, 32, one of eighteen people who had gathered at a private house in Nukus for a meeting which was raided by police. Serikbayev is charged with ”teaching religion illegally” and faces a maximum of three years in jail if convicted.
