China: Thirty-Four Christians Arrested in Xinjiang

China Aid reports that on April 19, around thirty house church leaders from Xinjiang province were arrested after meeting with four American Christians who were invited to attend a fellowship at a house church in Akesu city, Xinjiang. While most of those in attendance were released shortly thereafter, six of the Chinese pastors, who had been detained for similar activities in the past, were given criminal detention orders for involvement in “evil cult activities” and may face up to three years of re-education through labor. At least two of those detained were reported to have been subjected to physical abuse following their arrests.
