Belarus: Attempt to Deport More for “Illegal Religious Activity”

Forum 18 reports that Belarusian authorities are currently trying to deport Jaroslaw Lukasik on counts of “illegal religious activity and ” and accuse him of harming national security through active religious work. Lukasik holds Polish citizenship, but is married to a citizen of Belarus, with whom he has children. Due to the provisions of Belarus’ 2001 National Security Concept, in which foreign religious organizations are described as a threat, several other foreign religious workers have reported continuing problems with the Belarusian government.
