Iran: Government Intends to Identify and Stop “Heretics”

ADN Kronos International reports that the government of Iran has issued an official order to “identify heretics and take the necessary measures to stop their activities”. This has especially concerned Iran’s Bahá’í community, which is considered a “heretical sect” by authorities and subject to frequent persecution and discrimination, including restricted access to education and employment, on the basis of their religious identity. The Iranian Bahá’í community numbers just 350,000 in a country with a population of more than 65 million.
