Saudi Arabia: King Abdullah to Attend UN Interfaith Dialogue

RIYADH – King Abdullah said that he plans to attend the United Nations interfaith dialogue in November, the AP reported on October 26. King Abdullah said that he wishes to discuss his initiative to promote interfaith dialogue, although the nation of Saudi Arabia bans non-Muslims from openly practicing their religious faith. He told the official Saudi Press Agency, “The dialogue comes at a time when the world is criticizing Islam.” King Abdullah has worked to promote understanding between the Kingdom’s Sunni majority and Shiite minority over the past few years.
