Russia: Moscow Salvation Army Still Lacks Registration

Forum 18 reports that six months after the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights, the Moscow branch of the Salvation Army has yet to be re-registered as a legal entity or to receive any of the compensation it was awarded. The ECHR found Russia guilty of failing to grant legal status to the Salvation Army’s Moscow branch, which Russia had denounced as a “paramilitary organization” and had ordered the state to pay a sum of 10,000 euros to the organization. The Salvation Army, according to the organization’s website, is a part of the universal Christian Church.
