Indonesia: Leader of Sect Faces Blasphemy Charges

JAKARTA – Agus Imam Solihin, the leader of a sect who reportedly encouraged group sex rituals, is facing five years in prison if found guilty of religious blasphemy, the Jakarta Post reported on May 19.  Prosecutors indicted the defendant for spreading heretical teachings among Muslims who attended his religious gatherings, and the trial began on May 18.  Agus surrendered himself to police in January 2009.
