Belarus: Government Imposes Fine for Unregistered Religious Activity

OSIPOVICHI – Baptist pastor Nikolai Poleshchuck was fined almost the equivalent of three months salary, the largest fine to date, for unregistered religious activity, Forum 18 reported on June 11.  In response to allegations that Poleshchuck was penalized for peaceful religious activity, Anna Zemlyanukhina, Head of Osipovichi District Ideology Department, replied: “I know my Constitution and human rights. It is all in accordance with the law.”
