Vietnam: Historic Church Center of Dispute

HANOI – On July 20 police beat hundreds of Catholics who had erected a cross and alter on the grounds of the historic church of Tam Toa, Asia News reported on July 21.  The Church was confiscated in 1996 by the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province and reclassified as a “memorial site,” however Catholics continue to fight for its restoration.
