Sudan: Trial of Woman Arrested for Indecent Clothing Adjourned

KHARTOUM – The trial against Lubna Ahmed Hussein for wearing “indecent” clothing was adjourned after a judge determined that she possessed immunity due to her employment with the U.N., BBC reported on July 29.  Lubna Hussein has announced that she wishes to resign from the U.N. in order to fight the legality of the law against “indecent” clothing as well as the legality of punishments involving physical violence.  The ten other women Hussein was arrested with each received ten lashes and a fine.
