Russia: Supreme Court Bans Islamic Organization

MOSCOW – The Supreme Court has upheld a ruling that found the religious organization Talighi Jamaat to be extremist, and the Court has banned its activities in Russia, Interfax reported on August 3.  The Court determined that the Talighi Jamaat, an organization dedicated to propagating Islam worldwide, if allowed to continue operation would “threaten interethnic and inter-religious stability in Russian society and territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.”
