Pakistan: Christians Call for Blasphemy Law to be Repealed After Riots

PUNJAB – Christians are calling for the nation’s blasphemy law to be repealed after deadly riots between Muslims and Christians over the alleged desecration of a Quran on July 30 left 7 Christians dead, CNS reported on August 4.  Government ministers have reported that there is no evidence that a copy of the Quran was desecrated, and President Asif Ali Zardari has promised financial compensation for the victims of the riots.
