Vietnam: Government Evicts Monks From Monastery

HANOI – Monks, who are followers of the Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, are being evicted from their monastery for failing to clear their religious activities with the government, AP reported on July 4.  The eviction notice came after Thich Nhat Hanh’s France based website called for the Vietnamese government to disband religious police, but Bui Huu Duoc, from the government’s Committee on Religious Affairs, has denied there is a connection.
