Kazakhstan: Religion Classes Now Compulsory in Schools

ALMATY – Kazakhstan’s Science and Education Ministry announced on August 7 that religion will be a compulsory subject in schools starting this year, Reuters reported on August 7.  The Ministry has stated that the course will address all religious faiths and that it will aim to teach religious tolerance to students starting from a young age.
