Iran: Bahai Leaders to be Tried for Espionage and Defamation

TEHRAN – Seven leaders of the Baha’i faith, all arrested in 2008, will go on trial on August 18 on charges of spying for Israel and “insulting sanctities,” BBC reported on August 15.  The Baha’i faith is considered heretical in Iran, and hundreds of Baha’is have been jailed and executed since Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979.
