Sudan: Court Date Set for Female Journalist in Pants Case

KHARTOUM – Journalist Lubna Hussein has her trial date set for September 7 for wearing pants in public, an act considered to be in violation of government decency statutes, RNS reported on August 27.  The country’s public order police arrested Hussein and 12 other women in July for wearing pants at a Khartoum reception hall.  If convicted, Lubna will face 40 lashes and a fine.
