Malaysia: Court Rules that Catholic Paper May Use Term Allah

KUALA LUMPUR – The High Court ruled on December 31 that it was the constitutional right of the Catholic newspaper the Herald to use the term “Allah” in referring to God, Reuters reported on December 31.  In January 2009, Malaysia banned the use of the word “Allah” by Christians, saying the use of the Arabic word might offend Muslims who represent the religious majority.  High Court judge Lau Bee Lan ruled:  “Even though Islam is the federal religion, it does not empower the respondents to prohibit the use of the word.”

  1. I find the very issue incredible!
In other places I have had to defend that Allah is the same as Yahweh. When Christ was crucfied, what did he cry out? “ILAHI! ILAHI! (O God O God)

We need unity in this area, not dissension.
Allah is infinite, we are not.
Allah is All Powerful, we are needy.
Allah is Compassionate, why aren’t we?
