Egypt: Court Rules in Favor of Niqab Ban During Exams

CAIRO – A court ruled on December 3 in favor of the Egyptian government’s decision to ban female students from wearing the niqab—a full-face veil, during university exams, Reuters reported on December 3.  In October 2009 there was a similar ruling on the wearing of the niqab issued through a religious edict, which banned the veil from being worn in girls’ school dormitories.
