Kazakhstan: Government Proposes Retention of Current Religious Liberty Restrictions

ASTANA – The government’s proposed new version of the Code of Administrative Offensives contains the same restrictions and penalties for certain expressions of religious belief as found in the current Administrative Code, such as the implementation of fines and bans on those who practice their faith without state approval, Forum 18 reported on February 10.  Included in the draft is a new prohibition against inciting “religious superiority.”
