India: Court Strikes Down Discriminatory Divorce Clause

KERALA – Kerala’s High Court struck down a clause, which prohibited Christian couples from applying for divorce after less than two years of marriage, in the Indian Divorce Act as “discriminatory,” Cathnews Asia reported on March 1.  The court suggested reducing the waiting period to one year to make it uniform with similar laws governing people of other religious faiths.
