Serbia: Parliament Apologizes for 1995 Srebrenica Massacre

BELGRADE – The parliament has passed a landmark resolution apologizing for the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, during which nearly 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were killed, the BBC reported on March 31.  Bosnians and Muslims in Serbia have criticized the resolution, as it does not classify the Srebrenica massacre as an act of genocide.  The resolution, which the Serbian government sees as a crucial step in its attempts to join the European Union, was approved after almost 13 hours of heated negotiations in the Belgrade parliament.
