Botswana: High Court’s Interim Ruling Protects Religious Practice

BAKGATLA – In an interim ruling High Court Justice, David Newman, determined that Kgosi Kgafela, and his royal family, does not have any legal or administrative authority to impose the Family of God Church with civil or criminal charges for their religious activities, MMEGI reported on April 27.  The dispute between the Family of God Church and the royal family of Bakgatla arose after Kgafela had two pastors of the church whipped for worshipping in Mochudi, the SundayStandard reported on April 28.
